Police investigation in SSC examination copying case has revealed that a well-organized racket was involved in the copying after which Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to send a proposal to the state government to provide funds for installing jammers.
Shimla police have already submitted a report in the case to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) through Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, along with sealed question papers and code numbers of OMR sheets of candidates found copying during the examination, sources said. While the fate of 34 candidates hangs in balance, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has decided to take preventive measures to ensure such mass copying does not occur in the future.
Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission chairman K S Tomar said that a decision in this regard was taken in commission's meeting held recently. He said that the commission had decided to take preventive steps to eliminate any chance of copying during various examinations like HAS, HJS, SLET, and others.
"Commission merely conducted the written examination of SSC which pertained to recruitment of combined graduate level, junior engineer (civil and electrical) SI in CAPFs, ASIs in CISF. There was a need to use technology to check any chance of copying hence there was a dire need of installing jammers," Tomar added. He said that emphasis would be laid on frisking of candidates during the examinations with the assistance of local police at various examination centers in HP, while invigilators would be sensitized to keep a close watch on suspicious elements.
