Application are invited from male/female Indian citizens for appointments on
combatised posts of Assistant Sub Inspector(Stenographer), Head Constable
(Ministerial) and Constable(Daftry) in Border Security Force, Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of India in the pay scale as mentioned against each post plus DA and other
allowance as admissible to the member of the Force from time to time as well as
accommodation, uniform, LTC and medical facilities etc. The posts are temporary but likely
to become permanent.

(f) AGE LIMIT FOR ASI(STENO), HC(M) & CT(DAFTRY)
(i) Between 18 to 25 years. Upper age limit is relaxable by five years for the
candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes,
three years for the Other Backward Classes and five years for Govt Servants.
Also relaxable for other special categories of persons in accordance with the
orders issued by the Central Government from time to time.
Note:- (a) The crucial date for determination of age limit for the posts
ASI(Steno) & HC(Min) shall be 01-01-2014 i.e. he/she must have
been born not earlier than 01

(b) The crucial date for determination of age limit for the post
CT(Daftry) shall be closing date for receipt of applications from
candidates in India and not the closing date prescribed for those
in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur,
Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of Jammu and
Kashmir State, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub Division
of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman, Nocobar
Islands and Lakshadweep.
(ii) The upper age limit will be further relaxable upto 05 years to candidates of
Jammu and Kashmir who have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of
Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989(Any
person intending to avail of the aforesaid relaxation shall submit the certificate
from either District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction he had ordinarily
resided or any other authority so designated in this behalf by the Govt of J&K
to the effect that he had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and
Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989).
(iii) The relaxation in upper age limit of 05 years shall also be admissible to the
children and dependent family members of those who were killed in the
communal riots of the year 1984 and Gujrat of the year 2002. For getting this
benefit, the children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots
should produce a certificate to that effect from the concerned District
Collectors. A candidate can apply against vacancies in any State/ UT if he
fulfills other conditions, however, to avail of the present relaxation he/ she has
to produce the certificate from the District, wherein the victim was killed.
SC/ST/OBC relaxation, as per Govt. instructions will be in addition.
(iv) The age limit for departmental candidates to the posts ASI(Steno) & HC(Min)
who have rendered at least 03 years continuous and regular service in the
same line or allied cadre for which vacancies are advertised are as under:-
(a) General/OBC categories - upto 40 years
(b) SCs/ STs - upto 45 years.: 5 :
3.2 ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR DEPARTMENTAL(BSF) CANDIDATES
The following categories of BSF personnel would be eligible to appear in the said test
as departmental candidates against the reserved vacancies:-
(a) FOR THE POST OF ASI(STENO)- By selection amongst HC(GD), CT(GD),
HC(Min), CT(Daftry) and CT(Tradesmen) with five years total regular service
in Constable and or Head Constable grade and possessing qualifications
prescribed for direct recruits under column-3.1. Departmental candidates
should be in the Medical Category “SHAPE-1” and must have good record of
service.
(b) FOR THE POST OF HC (MIN ) - Amongst HC(GD), CT(GD), CT(Daftry) and
CT(Tradesmen) with five years total regular service in Constable and or Head
Constable grade(s) and possessing qualifications prescribed for direct recruits
under column-3.1. Departmental candidates should be in the Medical
Category “SHAPE-1” and must have good record of service.
(c ) Application of Govt. servants(Direct Enry)/ BSF candidates(Departmental) will
not be entertained without NOC from their Head of Office.
4. APPLICATION FORM, FEES AND CENTRE OF EXAMINATION
4.1 Proforma of application form given in Annexure-I to this advertisement.
4.2 Each application should be accompanied by a crossed Bank Draft/Postal Order for
Rs.50/-(fifty) as examination fee in favour of authority to whom the application is
addressed, payable at respective SBI/Post office at the location. However, the
SC/ST and Departmental (BSF) candidates are not required to submit examination
fee. Women candidates are exempted from payment of examination fees.
4.3 Candidates willing to appear at any one of the centre mentioned below may apply on
the following address of respective centres. Departmental candidates applying for
the post will submit the application through proper channel. However, no request for
change of selection centre will be entertained on subsequent stages.

5. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
The candidates may utilize the application format given with this advertisement and
send the application so as to reach at the above mentioned centers on or before 30 days
after publication of this advertisement in Employment News. Last date for receipt of
applications in respect of candidates belonging to far flung areas of Himachal Pradesh,
Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern States will be on or before 45 days after publication of
this advertisement in Employment News. The applications should be accompanied with
attested copies of certificates of proof of age, education qualification, caste, tribe/ hill
areas(domicile), wherever applicable;
6. SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR ASI(STENO), HC(MIN) & CT(DAFTRY)
The selection shall be held in two phases as under:-
(a) First Phase
(i) Written Examination: 7 :
(b) Second Phase
(i) Physical Measurement (PST)
(ii) Short Hand Test (only for ASI(Steno)
(iii) Typing Speed Test (only for HC(Min)
(iv) Documentation (Checking of Documents)
(v) Medical Examination.
There shall be sufficient gap between two phases of the tests.
PHASE-I
(a) WRITTEN EXAMINATION
The written examination will be conducted at the Selection Centres on the date and
time fixed by Pers Dte(Rectt Section) HQ DG BSF which will be communicated on
completion of the scrutiny. Admission in written examination will be purely on production of
call letter/ admit card dispatched to the eligible candidate by the concerned centres. Written
examination will consist of the following five parts:-
PART-I - Hindi/ English language. 20 Marks
PART-II - General Intelligence 20 Marks
PART-III - Numerical Aptitude 20 Marks
PART-IV - Clerical Aptitude 20 Marks
PART-V - Basic Computer Knowledge 20 Marks
TOTAL 100 Marks
There will be one composite paper for one hour and forty minutes duration
consisting of above five parts and will be “OMR BASED OBJECTIVE TYPE WITH
MULTIPLE CHOICE”. Question paper will be printed bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi both.
The minimum qualifying marks of written test are as under:-
i) General Category - 35%
ii) OBC/SC/ST - 33%
However, number of candidates to be qualified in written examination may be
restricted to the ten (10) times the number of vacancies for the posts HC(Min)/CT(Daftry) &
thirty (30) times the number of vacancies for the post ASI(Steno).
Note :- There will be no Re-evaluation of OMR sheets.
6.2 PHASE-II
(a) The candidates declared successful in written examination will be called to
appear in the second phase of selection separately.
(b) The candidates found eligible after physical measurement will only be allowed
to appear in typing (for HC/Min) and Stenography speed test (for ASI/Steno)
which will be qualifying in nature and to be cleared separately in each stage.
(c) Documentation (checking of documents) :- Candidates to produce all their
original documents of Age proof, Educational qualification, caste certificate &
other testimonials/certificates required for above posts during documentation.
(d) Medical Examination:- The candidates qualifying in PST/Typing/
Stenography/Documentation as the case may be, will be subjected to detailed
medical examination so as to assess their fitness for appointment in BSF as
per laid down standard. The medical examination will be held immediately
after completion of Documentation.
(e) The validity of medical examination will be one year.: 8 :
7. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
(a) The application form (Annexure-I) must be filled by the candidate in his own
handwriting/ typewritten. Correction, if any should be legible and attested by
the candidate.
(b) The envelope containing the application must be super scribed in bold letters
as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ASSISTANT SUB
INSPECTOR(STENOGRAPHER) OR HEAD CONSTABLE (MINISTERIAL)
OR CONSTABLE(DAFTRY) IN BORDER SECURITY FORCE 2013-14.
(c) Candidates applying for the post of ASI(Steno), HC(Ministerial) and
Constable(Daftry) will have to fill up separate form for each post.
(d) Candidate serving in Government/ Semi Government/ Public Sector
undertakings should apply through proper channel alongwith No Objection
Certificate from their employer. Same is also required to be submitted at the
time of Documentation (checking of documents).
(e) BSF Departmental candidates will also submit a Service Certificate of
qualifying service in present rank & Disc-Vigilance clearance certificate.
(f) All eligible candidates who apply in response to this advertisement before the
closing date will be assigned Registration/ Roll numbers. They will be
communicated through call letter for appearing in written examination.
(g) Incomplete applications or without signature/ NOC & seal of H.O.O.(in case of
serving candidates), are liable to be rejected summarily.
(h) The decision of the selection board with regard to the matters connected with
this recruitment will be final in all respects.
(j) The appointment will be subject to the conditions that the candidates are
medically as well as physically Fit. The selected candidates will have to
undergo Basic Training at any of the Training Institutions of BSF. The
services of those candidates who fail to complete the training successfully are
liable to be terminated.
(k) Government strives to have a work force which reflects gender balance and
women candidates are encouraged to apply.
(l) Women candidates are exempted from payment of examination fees.
(m) Selected candidates are liable to be governed by BSF Act and Rules.
(n) Selected candidates shall be liable to serve any where in India or out side
