Six lakh Applicant for only 7,200 seats in Haryana Police

PANCHKULA: As many as six lakh people have applied for 7,000 posts of constable and 200 posts of sub-inspector in the Haryana Police. It implies for each post, 84 people are in the fray. Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) chairman Bharat Bhushan Bharti provided these details during a press conference on Thursday.
Bharti said that in the threeday first phase that concluded on Thursday, 2,549 candidates appeared for the physical screening test for selection under the ex-servicemen quota. There are 1,000 seats in this category. The official said the recruitment process will be over by April 1 this year and the state will get newly recruited 7,200 men and women personnel. For general category, the recruitment process will begin at four places in the state on February. About 1,000 seats have been reserved for women, said Bharti.

The HSSC chariman said that modern computerised technology had been adopted for conducting the recruitment process in a transparent manner.
He said a computer chip is tied on the ankle of the candidate. When a candidate runs, the time is recorded when he starts, in the middle and also at the end of the race. He said the data could be checked any time. For ex-servicemen, the race of 2.5 km has to be completed within 13 minutes, and for their dependants a 5-km race has to be completed in 25 minutes.
Those who complete the race in 8 minutes will get 15 points and those who complete in 9 minutes will get 14 points. Similarly, with every increase in minute, the points will decrease. Bharti said that during the recruitment, they were relying on both manual and biometric attendances. He said the results of the first round for ex-servicemen category would be declared on February 22.In the next phase, a 60-mark test will be conducted, followed by a 10-mark oral test and a physical test.
