Haryana govt to charge sheet 160 teachers for poor result

CHANDIGARH: Alarmed by poor academic results, the Haryana government has decided to wield a stick on teachers of schools whose results were extremely poor in the first semester examinations of Classes 10 and 12.
The school education department has started the process to chargesheet 160 lectures and trained graduate teachers (TGTs) for poor result in the first-semester exam of the current academic session held by the Board of School Education, Haryana. The action is being initiated against teachers whose result was less than 5%. They belong to secondary and senior secondary schools in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Panchkula, Kaithal, Fatehabad, Sirsa and some other districts.
“The chargesheets will be issued in a day or two. The objective is to bring an improvement,” director, secondary education, ML Kaushik told HT. The department took the decision to take action against these teachers in a performance review meeting where additional chief secretary, school education, Keshni Anand Arora took to task the principals and headmasters of such schools last week. The number of teachers against whom action is being initiated could go up as a similar meeting of principals and headmasters of schools in the remaining districts has been called later this week.
In the Class-10 exam, the overall pass percentage was merely 35%, with private schools reporting pass percentage of 46% against 26% in government schools. The pass percentage in the senior secondary exam (Class 12) was somewhat better at 57%.
